This year’s Serenade Gala was nothing short of magical – a night where music, laughter, and gratitude filled the air, and over 100 guests gathered to witness the heart and soul of Charlotte Choir School. The evening was a brilliant celebration of the transformative power of music in young lives, all while honoring the unwavering generosity of our amazing supporters.
Rosie, a talented MasterSinger and current student, set the tone for the night with a heartfelt welcome. With a smile that radiated pride, she reflected on her own journey with the Choir School, sharing how it has shaped her into the leader she is today. “Charlotte Choir School has been a place where young voices like mine have been nurtured through music education and choral performance,” she told the room, reminding us all of our mission to enrich young lives.
Emcees Rob and Laurie Burlington brought their infectious energy to the event, weaving warmth and excitement into every moment. Their deep passion for the arts and their connection to the Choir School made them the perfect hosts for the evening.
Guests enjoyed spirited live and silent auctions, with generous bids raising crucial funds to support the Choir School’s programs, including an upcoming summer tour. The evening’s crescendo came with a truly breathtaking performance by The MasterSingers, led by the incredible Elizabeth Lenti and Dr. Andrew Pester, leaving the audience in awe of the talent and heart these young voices bring to the stage.
A standout moment was when Raiford Gainey, Board President of the Charlotte Choir School, shared news of the kick off to our second year of the 3&Me campaign—our ambitious three-year initiative with a goal of raising $100,000 to keep our programs accessible to all. We invited guests to join us in making this vision a reality.
As the night came to a close, Alayna, a chorister since 2015, expressed her gratitude and how the Choir School has helped her grow into someone who takes pride in her work, understands the importance of responsibility, and feels a strong sense of belonging. The night ended with a powerful round of applause for the incredible volunteers, staff, and donors who make this vibrant community possible.
Thanks to your generosity, we continue to offer music education to students from all walks of life, showing that music has the power to break down barriers, build connection, and change lives. Serenade was the perfect reminder of the far-reaching impact of music – inspiring, uniting, and lifting us all. We can’t wait to celebrate again next year. Until then, keep singing!
