General FAQs: Pickup, Delivery, Streaming, etc.
Serenade is The Choir School’s long running annual benefit event. This important fundraiser is the single biggest source of funds contributing to our mission to provide excellent, accessible music education. In 2021, The Choir School is hosting Serenade virtually over three special events.
Socially-distant curbside pickup at The Choir School is included with your ticket price. Pickup will be the day of each event and you will be able to select a pickup window in the coming weeks. We will email you with additional details. No-contact delivery is available to your home for an additional fee. You will be able to select and pay for the delivery option in the coming weeks.
A 21+ year old individual must pick up your event box. There are no exceptions.
To simplify the process, you’ll pay one flat-rate delivery fee regardless of the number of events you plan to attend for all deliveries to one address. We are unable to discount delivery if you are attending only one event. That delivery fee is still being worked out with our delivery partner, and we will let you know as soon as possible.
Delivery will be made in the hours leading up to the event. We are unable to accommodate specific delivery windows. A 21+ year old individual must be home to receive your event box. There are no exceptions.
Delivery is only available inside of Mecklenburg County.
You can watch all of the events from any web browser at TheChoirSchool.org/serenade/live. You must be logged in and a ticket holder for the event. Our streaming technology partner for the event is YouTube, so as long as your device can play a YouTube video, you should be good to go.
The live stream will not be available natively on apps or smart TVs, but you can use AirPlay or Chromecast to watch via an enabled smart TV.
Please reach out to The Choir School office and we’ll get you set up. Please note that while all of our event boxes accommodate two guests, we cannot split the boxes; each box can only be delivered to one address.
A portion of your ticket may be tax-deductible, and details will be provided on a year-end giving statement in January 2022. Please know that while your ticket purchase does help the organization, this event is a fundraiser and we count on your support beyond the ticket price to meet our goals and sustain our mission.
This is one gala that doesn’t require formal attire! Don your fanciest sweatpants, because webcams are not required to attend any event. You will be watching a live streamed broadcast for each event.
Our trivia night does have an interactive, on-camera component for those that are interested in joining the game; that is optional and is handled through a Zoom video call. While your sweatpants are still welcome, proper attire is required.
About the Serenade Concert
The Serenade Bites Box from our friends at La-tea-da’s Catering includes small plates of Mediterranean-inspired flare with a distinctly Southern twist. You’ll enjoy a gourmet Italian-inspired antipasti, featuring crab & artichoke dip, assorted imported meats and cheeses, an olive medley, fruit skewers, and assorted table wafers and herb crostini rounds.
The tastes continue with Serrano-style Virginia ham biscuits — a Southern classic with Spanish inspiration; the biscuits are served with manchego cheese and saffron aioli. Rounding out our tour takes us to Greece for Greek shrimp with spinach, tomato, and feta served over a confetti of orzo. Each box also includes your choice of a bottle of House Red or House White wine, or a non-alcoholic beverage option.
Yes! You can add an additional portion of any item for a fee, and for dessert, you can add an optional sweet finish of a petite flourless chocolate cake with a salted caramel drizzle or a classic creme brûlée. You can also upgrade your wine selection with additional bottles or a Reserve Selection of red, white, or sparkling wines.
A portion of your enhancement purchase supports The Choir School.
We will collect requests for vegetarian options when we send out your finalization email. In the meantime, we’d be happy to work with you if you have specific requests. Please contact Davis Tapp dtapp@charlottechoirschool.org for details.
Yes, the program will begin at 6:30 p.m. and is being broadcast live from Uptown Charlotte. An on-demand recording will be available after the concert should you miss any portion of the show.

About the Wine, Cheese & Chocolate Tasting
Each event box includes three half-bottles — a glass each per person with a sparkling, red, and white selection by The Assorted Table Wine Shoppe. Ormann’s Cheese Shop will select two cheeses to accompany the wines, and Pott’s Chocolates will provide four chocolate truffles for sweet finish. Because this is a seminar-style event, all selections will be the same for all guests.
Rachel Klebaur is owner & head cheesemonger at Orrman’s Cheese Shop. With 18 years of industry experience, most recently she earned the American Cheese Society’s Certified Cheese Sensory Evaluator & she is an ACS Certified Cheese Professional.
Josh Villapando’s work in the fine food & wine industry in Charlotte spans over 20 years. As a respected authority among customers & peers, his goal with Assorted Table Wine Shoppe is to provide intelligent and entertaining discussion about wine without alienation.
Friend of The Choir School Adam Santalla Pierce will moderate the discussion.
About Trivia Night
There are two ways to participate. You can watch the broadcast, with host Davis Tapp and our team captains — frivolity included. Or, you can put your knowledge to the test and join one of the two teams. If you join a team, you’ll be welcomed onto a Zoom call where can you can interact with other guests, the host, and the team captains. Advanced registration for the trivia teams is not required, but you can specify your interest when you buy your ticket.
Well, everyone wins during a night celebrating The Choir School. But, our winning team will receive a prize from a local Charlotte brewery.
