New name. Same mission.

The Choir School at St. Peter’s is now Charlotte Choir School

During a tough year, we had time to think about our mission, and realized this new name would better reflect our place in the Charlotte community. After a year away from in-person activities, we’re so excited to start reintroducing ourselves to Charlotte.

Thank you for being in our audience. We can’t wait to perform for you again at St. Peter’s this fall, and look forward to your support as Charlotte Choir School becomes an even larger part of our city’s cultural fabric.

As a supporter, here’s what you should know:

The name change reflects our commitment to the city of Charlotte and the community we serve.

We enrich the lives of Charlotte’s young people through excellent, accessible music education, and our audiences with choral performance.

We know we are a steward of Charlotte’s cultural life.

During the pandemic, we had the opportunity to look inward and reflect on our place in the community and we believe this new name is part of reintroducing our choirs to Charlotte after a long year away.

Charlotte Choir School enriches the St. Peter’s community and St. Peter’s offers a perfect home for our program.

We remain in residence at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church
in Uptown Charlotte. As our founding partner, St. Peter’s provides our students a living laboratory for choral music making. We are grateful to St. Peter’s for their partnership.

This name change doesn’t change who we are, it just changes how we tell our story.

We continue to be built on our impressive history and our core values of excellence and accessibility.
